Ultraman Manga Receives Anime Adaptation for 2019
Over the past few days, Tsuburaya Productions had a countdown clock running pertaining to Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s Ultraman manga. This countdown led to an easily and highly anticipated reveal, that the manga series will be receiving an anime adaptation. Now, the only unfortunate thing about the Ultraman anime is that it is not scheduled for a 2018 release; fans are going to have wait for almost another year, as the series is slated for 2019.
Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s Ultraman manga series began in 2011. The series was originally published within Shogakukan’s Hero Monthly magazine, before it acquired its compiled volume releases. Currently, Volume 10 is out in Japan, with Volume 11 scheduled to release on December 5th. In addition, Viz Media distributes the series to North America, and has released up to Volume 9; the North American release for Ultraman Volume 10 is scheduled for May 2018.
Viz Media’s description of the series:
Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined Shin Hayata of the Scientific Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters known as Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero – a new kind of Ultraman…
Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him, and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.
