Within the mix of the NYCC 2017 news, IDW Publishing announced the the release details for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. For those who are unaware the original main Sonic the Hedgehog comics series that was published Archie Comics finished it’s run on July 19 this year. The series ran from November 22, 1992 – July 19, 2017 so it did have a long run. The new comics will be published by IDW Publishing and the first issue is set to release in April 2018, with the return of long time comic writer, Ian Flynn, as the head writer.Read More
The Hollywood Reporter has recently reported that the Sonic the Hedgehog film will now be produced by Paramount Pictures. The live-action CGI hybrid film was originally going to be produced by Sony Entertainment, however the film has now changed studios. The main production team who was previously working on the project at Sony Entertainment will continue to work on their duties at Paramount Pictures. Currently no other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
The official Sonic the Hedgehog Youtube channel has updated with a story trailer for Sonic Forces. The latest trailer features Eggman’s team of returning villains as well as taking another look at the new villain, Infinite. The trailer also takes another look at the gameplay of the game and features the main theme song of the game titled. “Fist Bump.” Sonic Forces will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 7, 2017 in North America/ Europe and November 9 in Japan. The official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter page has updated with a new full trailer for Sonic Forces. The latest trailer reveals that players will be able to create their own playable Sonic character in the game. Sonic Forces will be released for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this Holiday season. Nintendo has updated their official Youtube channel with a trailer for the Nintendo Switch port of Sonic Mania. The game was briefly shown during the third party segment of this year’s Nintendo Switch Presentation. No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
The Holly Reporter has recently reported that Tim Miller is now working as the executive producer for Sony’s Sonic the Hedgehog film. Tim Miller recently left as the director of Deadpool 2 and is now working on the CG/ live action family oriented film adaptation of the long running game franchise by Sega.
