Jurnee Smollett-Bell & Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins Birds of Prey Cast

Variety has reported that Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Windstead will be joining the cast of Birds of Prey. For those who are not aware, the film is a live-action adaptation of the Birds of Prey comic series and will be produced by Margot Robbie. Margot Robbie portrayed Harley Quinn in the 2016 Suicide Squad film and will reprise her role in Birds of Prey. Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary, while Windstead will be portraying Huntress. First Look at Live-Action Aquaman’s Black Manta

Entertainment Weekly has revealed a first look at Black Manta in the upcoming live-action Aquaman film. While a full look of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in costume has not been shown, the photo reveals David Kane aka Black Manta working on his armor. Cathy Yan to Direct Harley Quinn Spinoff Film

Several new outlets have reported that Cathy Yan is set to direct the next DC spinoff film, which will focus on Harley Quinn.  The film will be based on the Birds of the Prey comic series and Margot Robbie will return to reprise the titular role. LuckyChap Entertainment and Kroll & Co Entertainment will be producing the film alongside Bryan Unkeless’ Clubhouse Pictures.  Seeing as the project is still early in development no other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.


Ava DuVernay to Direct DC’s “New Gods”

Variety has reported that Asher Angel will be portraying Billy Batson in DC’s Shazam. For those unaware, Billy Batson is the alter ego of Shazam. By calling out the word “Shazam!”, lightning strikes him changing him into the Earth’s Mightest Mortal. Patrick Wilson Cast as Ocean Master in Aquaman Film

Yesterday,  The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Patrick Wilson will be playing Arthur Curry’s brother, Ocean Master/Orm Curry, in the standalone Aquaman film.   For those who aren’t familiar with his previous work, Patrick Wilson portrayed Nite Owl in the 2009 live action adaptation of the Watchmen.    He will star alongside Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Amber Heard (Mera).  The film is set to premiere in theaters on October 5, 2018.
