Hyper Light Drifter TV Series in Production

Polygon has reported that Alx Preston, the creator of Hyper Light Drifter, has confirmed that a TV series is in production based on his game. For those who are not aware Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action role-playing game developed by Preston’s indie studio, Heart Machine. The game was released for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016. The game later was released for the Nintendo Switch in September 2018. The series will be produced by Adi Skankar, who is known for working on the Netflix Castlevania animated series as well as some upcoming series based on Devil May Cry and Assassin’s Creed.

Preston had this to say in his interview with Polygon.

“The difference between a series and a game is vast in a lot of ways,” he says. “Hyper Light as a game was pretty atmospheric and kind of overbearing at times. For a series, the question is: how do you sustain and keep your attention on a non-interactive run? Does it get really, really dark and serious? Does it have some levity?”

“There’s still a question of how much dialogue we really have, if any,” Preston says. “Could it be a more silent series or would we have voice acting? Considering Hyper Light was wordless, there’s an idea there of how much that would carry over to to a show.”

No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tune for updates. Those who are interested can see the rest of the interview at the link listed below.
